When the AWP ended, and we packed up before looking for food, the section of town around the conference was slammed. When we walked a few blocks for food we discovered at the hotels, at the bars, at the restaurants, that tables were booked until 9:30. We found this out at 6-6:30 mind. Wound up ordering pizza via DoorDash. Unbelievable. We ate at around 8:30-9pm.

superbowl is my guess - everyone from outside of the City came downtown to KC to watch on the jumbotrons. The (free, cool) streetcar was mobbed even at noon with suburbanites wearing arrow earrings and red from head to toe like they were auditioning for a children's book cover.... by the time the game had started I'm guessing you were running into the same mobs...just hangry!! For future KC visiting, I accidentally discovered an area called Crossroads which seems to be the funky/young/coffeeshop/gallery part of town. Recommend!!
