It may not be germane to your point, but for decades now, my first action on moving into a new place has been to tape two pennies to the inside of the door jamb - a throwback to the days when 2 pennies was the burial price and the thought was that you could rest better in your home knowing you were provided for. (Burial price not adjusted for 1000 years of inflation.) When I move, I leave the pennies behind, to provide for the next resident as well.
