Ladies, Gentlemen and Centrists:
I’m in Pennsylvania for a fantastic wedding (my cousin is marrying her longtime love). The couple rented a gorgeous summer camp for their 200 guests and the weekend kicked off with an elaborate guest-driven talent show. (it helps when your guests are pro entertainers and you work at Spotify) Everything from an echt Rabbi doing R-rated standup to DJs spinning to singer songwriters to the funniest routine about composing a business email.
Love abounds and can be celebrated in so many ways!

Weather cooperated so the huge bonfire and s’mores-making was extraordinary — we were gloriously cavorting under a canopy of stars (the Big Dipper directly overhead) until a huge moon rose!
There was a boatload of alcohol. Literally.
The wedding morning started with a huge picnic breakfast, arts & crafts & frisbee & camp sports and a taco lunch, and a pool party with an ice cream truck!
A day of Lithuanian folk dancing. Swimming in two lakes and a pool…sun and fun and making new friends. Weddings are the best. Love is magical.

What a great time I had at Randee Daw’s series Brooklyn Books and Booze!!
The other readers…
were all amazing !!
and they brought in tons of people! The place was packed.
Shout out to Ben Francisco, Amy Grech, and David Harris for making the trek! Made a new friend too - author Teel James Glenn who posted this gem on my author page:
“You were great tonight! Sorry I had to rush out-- but if Richard Matheson and Shirley Jackson had a kid--it would be the story you read tonight. Loved it!!”
I mean, how can I not want to be this guy’s best friend???
(Read the story and judge for yourself—it’s “Still Life with Summer Cherries”—in my collection!)
Need to get back to hard work….
Random Final Thought:
What is Theater Season? When did that start? Repertory theater comes in seasons (we also have a fall season and spring season with separate funding at Pen Parentis— but why?) Why? Shows open and close all the time on Broadway — year round — and of course there is Tony nomination time that requires timing… so why is Theater marked in a seasons? Does it date back to when people summered?
Happy Summer!
