The Insanity is Real
I'm officially off my rocker
Boo! (did I scare you?)
The social aspect of my life has gotten way out of hand. This week I went to three Broadway shows, two parties (one that ended 4am and the next night turned in “early” leaving the party at 1am), I got to see an out of town friend for three meals and a science fiction reading, had intense conversations with writers (the one about AI and LLMs and the benefit/cost of using AI to work on STEM vs Humanities was legendary) and I made time to meet with a representative of my college (I might get to be a visiting artist on my beautiful old Baltimore campus!) and attended a pro-Ukraine literary celebration run by PEN America at which a Lithuanian writer read from her mushroom-friendly novel. I did some other, more personal stuff as well—so it’s not just fun and games, sometimes it’s also games and fun!
The three plays I saw were Waiting for Godot, Punch, and a reading for a new Dorothy Bainbridge bio-musical. Each one was because a good friend gave me the tickets - thank you, good friends! I so appreciate the opportunity!
Oh! And I did a half-hour talkback with the playwright who wrote The Creeps about theater in general.

So what happened to my own writing? I rejoined a regular writing group, sent out a brand-new story to a brand-new market, and had some back-and-forth with my publisher which resulted in:

It was quite the week for publicity!
Here’s an interview I did with Linda Bucher on her podcast, “Conversations Worth Your While” —
And in case you want to watch me speak Lithuanian in Lithuania, this 40 minute segment on my history, life, work, and creative practice recently came out on Lithuanian national TV! Coincidentally, at the exact same time as Stephanie Larkin was bringing A FLASH OF DARKNESS to the various international publishers at Frankfurt Buchmesse (Bookfair).
This avalanche is gaining speed! People in grad school used to always tell me that when I hit, it would be unstoppable. I hope hope hope they are right!
Random Final Thought:

As always, go forth and be generous. And get excited for Halloween! It’s almost here!

Flying high without a broom! Congratulations! Please email me a copy of the picture; I can’t get it off your posting.
