I love origin stories. A librarian group I'm in did a thread of them recently (supposedly limited to five points, but no one follows rules), and they were more divergent than you'd imagine. Mine, for instance, starts with my mom showing me the union label in a pair of jeans circa 1986.
ah to remember those temp jobs! So much typing! And that Edgar Allen Poe seems to have gotten around both before and after death... There's a plaque for his farmhouse on West 84th Street in NY.

yes! he spent a huge amount of his life in NYC and loved it! the Poe cottage up in the Bronx is well worth a visit - just steps from the D train!
