/Waving from across the dunes….
I spent the whole day at the beach today - who knew there was a surfing beach that’s barely three blocks from the A train? I was surprised. They even rent surfboards and wetsuits.
What else do I know nothing about that’s within a subway ride of home, I wonder.
I’ve had a lot of time to ruminate and read this week. (I’m reading three books: Hum, by Helen Phillips; Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott and The Cheesemaker’s Daughter by Kristin Vukovic) Drove the long long road from Michigan back home in half the time I’d budgeted. I had cleared my calendar to allow for the drive so it has been interesting to have almost nothing on the books. (Oh I’ve got plenty of admin work to do, but no in-person meetings.)
But then my neighbor who had been in and out of hospitals passed away. She was a good friend, a terrific artist, and a longtime supporter of Pen Parentis. She was, in fact the first person I invited to join the Advisory Board. She bolstered my creative endeavors, was always the first to read my newest work, and was complimentary of everything from my outfits to my parenting. I will miss her dearly. I’ve set up a memorial fund in her honor if you would like to donate to the nonprofit.
Time is fleeting.
Writing News:
I was stunned by this interview of me in Authority Magazine. Photos are by Luba Grosman. I love her photos.
Random Final Thought:
It is truly ridiculous how much time we spend correcting autocorrect.
I heartily endorse your "Random Final Thought."
And so sorry about your friend. Friend losses take an emotional toll. Take care of yourself.
That straw makes ME happy just looking at it - drinking a frose with it must have been heavenly!
